• Welcome to Our Official Page

We are The Peterloo Institute, a student-run think tank run by University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University students. We proudly provide a non-partisan platform for inclusive and diverse participation in policymaking.

Through insightful research, innovative publications, and engaging public events, we work with the people of Greater Manchester to create progressive policies and positive changes. We are made of two research teams looking to help tackle two of the most important current issues, both here in the North and across the UK: the Regional Inequality Research Team and Structural Racism Research Team.

Hear from our previous Peterloo Institute member:

‘My experience as a researcher on the regional inequality team at The Peterloo Institute was a highlight of my postgraduate studies at Manchester. Contributing to two major reports on zero-hour contracts and housing, alongside presenting our findings at the ESRC Festival of Social Science has provided me with invaluable policy experience. I’ve since been able to continue this work in my role as a Policy Coordinator at the Students’ Union, focusing on the same issues that directly impact the lives of students.’

Lily Bromfield, previous Regional Inequality Team Researcher
